Menstruation and Islam, a little clarification on the subject.

I have seen some half truths being posted on some other blogs in the reusable menstrual products circle about the views on menstruation in Islam.
I am a Muslim woman. I am a reusable menstrual products advocate. And this little hobby blog may not make much noise but at least there will be something out there in the subject!

There are rules for Muslim women when it comes to our periods. Lets start with prayer. Typically we pray 5 times a day. And it's not just sitting and praying silently. It's much more physical. Standing, bowing half down, all the way to the floor, back up again multiple times at each prayer.
Many women already struggle with fatigue during their periods and other physical symptoms on our body.
Because of this reason we are exempt from prayer. But not for the reasons I keep reading elsewhere, that we are considered unclean.

Same with fasting. A woman's body is already going through a lot so we are exempt from putting it through the added stress of no food or drink from sunrise to sunset!
This ruling applies to women with post partum bleeding too for the same reasons.
Not because we are viewed as "unclean" or "impure", but as a mercy for us. Our bodies are already undergoing enough physically!

These are just a few of the misconceptions I have read a few times.
Feel free to ask me any other questions.

"Posh Pits" by My Posh Nest review!

I would like to start our with a disclaimer. I did not receive anything for this review. This is just me sharing my honest opinion of a product I purchased.

I have been searching for an all natural option for deodorant that worked for me for a while now!
Store bought commercial brands are antiperspirants that container aluminum I would rather avoid!

I discovered My Posh Nest Facebook page and checked out her etsy shop.
She has three options for scents, I went with lavender and wild orange.

The deodorant is all natural, phthalate, paraben and aluminum free. Made from organic coconut oil, Shea butter, beeswax, arrowroot powder. And kaolin clay, vitamin e., essential oils and love. Love is actually listed in the ingredients on the label which I thought was really cute!

I got it pretty quickly after ordering. The day before I was having a yard sale, so day two I was able to put it to the ultimate test!

It has a beautiful sticker label, easy to use twist up tube packaging. Very convenient.
It is a little more firm and doesn't glide on as easy as commercial brands, but not too difficult. Nice natural scent, not too over powering.

Day two, I put it to work! For those of you who don't know, I am a Muslim woman. I cover all my body but my hands and face. So that fact, combined with being outside in very warm weather chasing my kiddos around I became very sweaty!
But my Post Pits deodorant did its job, held up nicely! Not stink by the end of the day.

I have since purchased another order of Posh Pits from her, and will continue to be a repeat customer.

Check out all her products. From deodorant to bath bombs to really neat diffuser necklaces!

Pixie Fluff pocket diaper and cover review.

Pixie Fluff small diaper cover
This is my review for Pixie Fluff One Size pocket diaper and diaper cover.

I have to say out right, I had a bit of trouble diapering my son as a newborn. He would leak out of everything I tried (until I discovered hemp!)
But this was one of my favorite covers.
The rise was low enough that it didn't cover the cord, three snap settings for a perfect fit at the waist. Roomy enough to allow for enough to soak up whatever my super soaker offered!
The only con I found was it faded fast, but I also used it a ton, so it got washed every two days!

And my review of the pocket diaper is also very favorable! It has a unique jersey inner. Allows for the pee to go through to the insert faster while keeping baby dry!
I had no issues with fading with this one and it's in just about every wash still for almost a year now!
Great fit, great adjustment options.
Fits my now 14 month old great with room to grow!

Talulah Bean Chilly Bean Mini Review

I ordered two Chilly Bean Minis, one for each of my kids. The day after I got them baby boy decided to take his Superman shirt literally and fell and got a goose egg on his head!

So, Chilly Beans to the rescue!

I have had them for a few months now, they have not only come in handy over and over again. They have held up with the use my kids get out of them!
They have replaced my 6 year old daughters cure all of bandaids! Any bump or scrape now she calls out for her Chilly Bean!
They also are good for postpartum, you can lay them on top of your pad.

And you can't beat the price! For $4.75 you get a removable, washable minky print of your choice and a reusable ice pack insert!

She also sells the full size (3.5 inches by 12 inches) Chilly Bean Original for $8.95. I got one of these for my sister to help in her recovery from surgery!

MamaJewel's Handmade Jems mama cloth review.

I won a contest through her site a while back, and also have made purchases.
She runs a Facebook page and an etsy store. Awesome customer service, great quality product, different sizes and absorbancies available. She also does customs.

I have three of her regular pads, they are made with suedecloth as the top layer closest to the skin, one layer of zorb in the middle (very trim and absorbs 10x it's weight in a second! So maximum absorbency without the bulk) and backed in fleece.
They are also 9 inches long, perfect length for regular days.

I have a variety of mama cloth and I have to say for those concerned about the bulk, these are for you! They are so trim but hold up as good as my thicker, longer night time pads.
I even used them postpartum when my bleeding slowed a bit more.
They are my go to when I am going out since they are so much thinner, I can bring them and they easily fit in my small to go wet bag.
So check her out!
